19 new partnerships for Québec on the fourth day of the 2014 mission to China

Beijing, October 29, 2014 – At the conclusion of the fourth day of the economic mission to China headed by Québec Premier Philippe Couillard, 19 agreements were announced in the realms of the information and communications technologies, construction, health, culture, higher education, research and innovation.

“Since we arrived in China, the members of the Québec delegation have signed 45 agreements. The partnerships will benefit Québec in all respects and also bode well for the conclusion of several other agreements in the coming months,” Premier Couillard noted.

As part of an ongoing program to support Québec firms, Minister of the Economy, Innovation and Exports Jacques Daoust met with Chinese civil aviation officials to discuss direct air service between Montréal and Beijing. The president of the Chinese agency confirmed its willingness to establish such a service. Moreover, Minister Daoust attended the installation of a Casavant organ in Beitang Cathedral in Beijing.

“Casavant is a Québec heritage company and this is not the first but the fifth organ that it has sold in China, which proves that a quality niche product can succeed here. This is the objective that we are pursuing in several sectors to enable Québec to continue to stand out,” Mr. Daoust said.
