Dominique Vien

Place of birth: Lévis

Dominique Vien holds a bachelor’s degree from Université Laval with a major in communications and a minor in law and history.
She worked for 10 years in radio as a journalist, news desk editor and director of programming at Radio-Bellechasse and the French-language CBC radio network in Québec City. She also served as rural development advisor with Solidarité rurale du Québec and as a communications advisor with the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec.

Ms. Vien was the first woman elected president of the Club Optimiste de Lac-Etchemin. She served as secretary-treasurer of the CLD des Etchemins and a director of the Fondation Sac-O-dos. She was also the honorary co-chair of the charity casino of the Comité de restauration de la rivière Etchemin, honorary president of the Salon communautaire des Etchemins and vice-president of the cultural committee of the auditorium of the Polyvalente des Appalaches. She also worked with the Réseau des groupes de femmes Chaudière-Appalaches, where she sat on the advisory committee on the management of the À égalité pour décider project to encourage women to participate in politics.

She was elected MNA for Bellechasse riding for the first time in 2003. She served as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Culture and Communications and was subsequently appointed Minister of Government Services, then Minister for Social Services. She also served as the official opposition critic for communications and regional and community media.

Re-elected in the April 7, 2014 general election, she was the Minister of Tourism and the Minister responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches region. Since January 28, 2016, she is minister responsible for Labour, minister responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches region and deputy Government House Leader.
