Stéphanie Vallée

Place of birth: Sherbrooke

Stéphanie Vallée is a lawyer by training, a member of the Barreau du Québec and an accredited family law mediator. She established a law office and has worked there mainly in family law, youth protection and criminal law.

In addition to her professional achievements, Ms. Vallée has become actively involved in a number of community and social causes. In particular, she has acted as an advisor to the Barreau de Hull, served as member of the Association québécoise des avocats et avocates de la défense du district de Hull and a member of Participation des parents du Collège Sacré-Cœur de Maniwaki. She has also sat on the executive boards of the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de Maniwaki and the Maison de la culture de la Vallée de la Gatineau and served as a member of the boards of directors of the Fondation Jean-Charles-Bonenfant and the Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse.

Initially elected MNA for Gatineau in 2007, she was the parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and the Minister of Families, then parliamentary assistant to the Premier. In 2012, she became official opposition critic for social services, adoption and youth protection. She has sat on several committees, in particular the Committee on Institutions and the Committee on Health and Social Services, on the question of end-of-life care and culture and education.

She was re-elected in the April 7, 2014 general election. Today, she is Minister of Justice and Minister responsible for the Outaouais region.
