Luc Fortin

  • Minister responsible for the Estrie region

Luc Fortin holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Political Science from the Université de Montréal. Prior to his first work at the Québec National Assembly in 2006, Luc Fortin was a teaching assistant at the Université de Montréal. Subsequently, he served as policy advisor and press secretary for the Minister responsible for Canadian Intergovernmental Affairs and the Reform of Democratic Institutions of Québec. In 2009, he served in the same capacity for the Minister of Immigration and Cultural Communities of Québec, and he was named communications advisor to the Premier of Québec in April 2010. In 2012, with his wife Émilie Rouleau, he founded the public relations firm Chic Communications, where he served as co-president.

Luc Fortin was elected Member of the National Assembly for the first time in the general provincial election of 2014 in the riding of Sherbrooke. He has since served as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Culture and Communications and to the Minister responsible for the Protection and Promotion of the French Language. During that time, he became a member of three parliamentary committees, the Committee on Institutions, Committee on Culture and Education, and Committee on Citizen Relations. On January 28, 2016, he was named Minister for Recreation and Sport and became a member of the Comité ministériel du développement social, éducatif et culturel.

Since February 22, 2016, Luc Fortin has served as Minister of Culture and Communications, Minister responsible for the Protection and Promotion of the French Language, and Minister responsible for the Estrie region. He and his wife are the parents of four young children, Alexia, Raphaël, and Èva-Rose. On October 11, 2017, he was appointed Minister of Families and Minister responsible for the Estrie region.
