Martin Coiteux

Place of birth: Sorel

Martin Coiteux holds bachelor’s degree in economics from the Université de Sherbrooke and a master’s degree in economics from Queen’s University in Ontario. He also holds a doctorate in international economics from the Institut de hautes études internationales et du développement in Geneva.

A specialist in monetary policy and international economics, he is the author of a number of scientific articles and works on the economic contexts in Québec and Canada. He taught economics and international business at HEC Montréal for 20 years. In addition, he served as the Bank of Canada’s senior representative for Québec.

Martin Coiteux was elected for the first time as MNA for Nelligan during the April 7, 2014 general election. From April 23, 2014 to January 28, 2016, he was Minister responsible for Government Administration and Ongoing Program Review and Chair of the Conseil du trésor.

On January 28, 2016, he was appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs and Land Occupancy, Minister of Public Security, and Minister responsible for the Montréal region.
